We are always keen to try out food from other countries, so when we found Syriana on Google Maps, we were excited. There is a Syrian restaurant in Joburg called Sham that we tried once and really enjoyed but haven’t been back. (Note to self: Go to Sham in Rivonia and try out more dishes!)
Location

Syriana is located on Main Road in Sea Point. The locations is quite central, but I think during peak hours parking might be difficult to find. We found parking right in front of the restaurant.
Ambiance
We opted to make a reservation. At the entrance we were greeted by two waitresses and a ‘very chilled out’ host who slowly walked us to our table in the rear non-smoking section.
The lighting was just right and the music volume was also acceptable. We did however think that playing some Arab/Syrian music may have added to the overall experience.

We also felt that the smoking area was much larger than the non-smoking one but that is probably due to the fact that they are also a
Shisha lounge, which I can imagine is quite popular with evening customers. This also explains the smoking section being in the front of the restaurant.
Food and Service

Our waitress was quite engaging and helped us make a decision on what to order. We went with the Syriana Kebab Platter which allowed us to taste a variety of the meat dishes from menu.

We were not disappointed. The lamb cubes were our favourite and the chicken cubes were a close second. The mince kebabs were just a tad meaty for our liking but the variety of sauces, dips and salads that come with the platter helped conceal that. I also ordered the fresh carrot and apple juice which was really tasty and went well with the food!
Overall it was a great dining experience.
